What's your background?
After obtaining an "Engineering Sciences" Bac in 2017, I completed a "Mesures Physiques" DUT for its versatility and multidisciplinarity. I then joined the Ecole des Mines d'Ales in the south of France in the "mechatronics" stream, again for its multidisciplinary aspect. During these 3 years, I did a work-study placement at Thalès Alenia Space's Cannes site.
How did your integration go?
My integration went well, with lots of exchanges, listening and answers to all my questions. When I arrived, I had lunch with the Belgian team, so I was able to meet them all.
What does the mission entail?
I work for an aeronautical equipment manufacturer in Brussels, a company that creates electromechanical actuators for space systems. I'm a test engineer, so I'm involved in the testing and validation phases of electromechanical systems, before sending them out to customers. The customer team made me feel very welcome and trained me very well.
What do you like about your current mission?
The fact that it's multi-disciplinary: from documentation, through testing, programming, mechanics, electrics, electronics and testing on lots of different machines.documentation, testing, programming, mechanics, electrics, electronics and testing on lots of different machines. It's a varied, non-routine job, and I'm passionate about the subject of space.
What does "Ingénieur & Citoyen" mean to you?
The environment and ethics: these days, you can't turn a blind eye to the environment! Ingénieur & Citoyen represents an environmental and human conscience, without greenwashing and with real action.
